Thankful Thursday: Beau Barron

Oct 22, 2020

When I was 16 years old we added two new players onto my Bay to Bay team that were starters at our rival club. One of those players was Beau Barron.

Right away Beau battled with our starting setter Trevor Rowell for playing time. During a big qualifying tournament, Beau was having the match of a lifetime in the quarterfinals before he went down with a brutal ankle injury. He battled his way back through months of rehab to be ready to go for Junior Nationals.

By that time Trevor had established himself as the starter, and Beau easily could have called it quits. Instead, Beau doubled down for the team. He was a hype man, serving sub, and the best backup setter in the gym. He played his given role when our team needed it the most. We went on to win a bronze medal that tournament. Our highest finish ever at the club (for the time being).

16 years later, that mentality has not changed for Beau. Now, he brings his passion for volleyball and ability to improve the people around him to coaching.

Just like when Beau was a 16 year old, he is energetic in his pursuits and is always trying to play his role to the best of his abilities. Beau has never had an ego when coaching, and has been willing to coach any and all age groups and skill levels. "Whatever is best for the club" is a common phrase from Beau.

  • 14-3’s
  • 16-2’s
  • 17-1’s
  • 13-1’s

He is the epitome of a team player and has been a huge reason for the success of our club over the past few years. Thank you for leading by example Beau. We can all learn from your patience, optimism, and general kindness.

P.S. Beau can still ball out, check his one handed setting skills here.
